What to do and where to eat in Stockholm?

What to do

  • Visit Monteliusvägen. The best place to take pictures of the city and to enjoy a sunset. There is a good park for picnics next to it (Ivar Los Park). https://goo.gl/maps/9Acs1jHGrwP2
  • Go to Gröna Lund. An amusement park with great views over the city. I recommend going there by boat. You can use your SL for the boat. Take the subway to slussen, exit towards the boat signs in gamla stan. https://goo.gl/maps/YBVzxe1DVqT2
  • Visit the Royal Palace: You’ll see it from everywhere. Though I only recommend going inside if you are staying for several days and want to know more about Swedish history. https://goo.gl/maps/o7sCrXXwohJ2
  • Visit the Drottningholm Palace. Where the royal family lives. They’re the first not living in the Royal palace. The palace is similar to Versailles. Only recommend if you are staying for several days. Nice on a sunny day though. https://goo.gl/maps/mDGHvn1jZn92
  • Go to the Stockholm public library. Very pretty library from the inside. Wouldn’t go there on purpose unless you love libraries but it is worth visiting if you’re near the area (Vasastan). https://goo.gl/maps/W8oHFv3mgGF2
  • Visit the Stockholm City hall. Place where the nobel party is hosted. Has tours to visit the building and a nice tower with good views over the city. https://goo.gl/maps/yRQDgkU1qvj

If you’re a fan of museums

  • Fotografiska: Excellent photography museum and an excellent bar/fika place with great views. The locals’ favorite museum. Most people have a season pass as the exhibits change often and are great. https://goo.gl/maps/qzgvMaUYdPz

For summer time

  • Kayaking in the city if it is nice weather. This place is good as you can in brief moments kajak towards awesome views of the city. Långholmen Kajak, https://goo.gl/maps/sddtmYCYAeq

Where to eat

Swedish food

  • Kajsas Fisk (€): Excellent fish soup!! (free refills) and other fish dishes like herring and lobster pasta. The restaurant is inside a market. https://goo.gl/maps/dBDMzH9CaWk
  • Nystekt Stromming (€): Popular food truck in Stockholm. Good to try the fish herring (Sil in Swedish) which is pretty common. https://goo.gl/maps/nbjqiBxLMPp

Other types of food

Ice Cream

Bars

  • Omnipollos Hatt (€€): Probably my favorite Swedish brewer. They also have good pizza! After visiting this bar you can go up the hill (2 minutes) and visit Gondolen and the balcony next to Sodra Teatern. https://goo.gl/maps/cZCriTAkBmD2
  • Lådan (€€): Good for big groups. Good beer and good small plates. https://goo.gl/maps/HwToaKhCMR82
