Mallorca, the largest of Spain’s Balearic Islands, is a paradise of turquoise waters, dramatic cliffs, charming villages, and vibrant culture.
This 10-day itinerary will guide you through some of the island’s most breathtaking spots. It balances relaxation, adventure, and cultural experiences. This is ideal for families with kids.
We explored the island on a campervan, but this itinerary can be adapted using a car or similar.
Day 1: Palma de Mallorca
Start your journey in the island’s capital, Palma de Mallorca, and explore and get lost in the old town.
- Visit the Mallorca Cathedral. You can book a rooftop visit on the website.
- Explore the Royal Palace of La Almudaina.
- Don’t miss the Arab Baths.
- Take a stroll at Parc de la Mar.
If you have more time you can visit:
- Bellver Castle
- Marivent Gardens
For the best food we also had the best recommendations from a local friend:
- Vermuteria San Jaime @vermuteriasanjaime (fancier tapas style)
- La Vasca @lavascapalma (good food from the north of Spain)
- Casa Julio @casajuliorestaurante (traditional home made food)
- Can Joan de S’Aigo @canjoandesaigo (best café to try the typical ‘ensaimadas’)
- Heladeria Filippo @filippoheladariapasteleria (great icecreams made with local products)
- La Parada del Mar @laparadadelmar (fresh seafood)
Day 2: Sant Elm
Drive to Sant Elm, a picturesque seaside village on the western coast. Sant Elm welcomed us with grey weather, not the greatest when you think about a beach destination. But we found a place to park our home on wheels, we played at the beach, had dinner with the sound of rain and went to sleep.
On the next day we woke up with the perfect sunny weather, and the sea gained the different tones of blue, and everything suddenly was even more beautiful.
The village is small, and doesn’t have lots of places for campervans, but it’s the perfect location to spend a couple of days, specially with kids.
You have the beach on a calm bay, with vigilance and a playground. The beach also has showers. And then, right on top of the beach you have the main street with lots of shops, cafes and restaurants.
Right in front of the village there is also a small island, called Sa Dragonera, the island of the dragon, that you can visit by boat and is part of a natural reserve, perfect for hiking and wildlife spotting.
This is the definition of a perfect hidden gem for us. We just spend there one night, but we could stayed there happy for a week of two.
Day 3: Playa del Muro
Head north to Playa del Muro, one of Mallorca’s most family-friendly beaches with the traditional resorts along the coast.
The weather was a bit gray when we got there, so I don’t think we saw the beach in its full splendor, we still did lots of fun though.
Besides enjoying the beach, you can also take a boat trip to explore the Albufera Natural Park, a haven for birdwatching and nature lovers.
Day 4: Cala Agulla
Make your way to Cala Agulla, a stunning beach surrounded by pine forests and rocky cliffs. Spend the day sunbathing, hiking the nearby trails, or exploring the neighboring Cala Mesquida for an even more secluded experience.
Days 5-6: Mondragó Natural Park
Dedicate two days to exploring the Mondragó Natural Park, a nature reserve with stunning beaches like Cala Mondragó and S’Amarador. Enjoy hiking trails, snorkeling in the clear waters, and discovering the park’s diverse flora and fauna. Stay in a nearby traditional finca for an authentic Mallorcan experience.
Day 7: Cala Figuera, Cala Santanyi & Cala Llombards
Spend the day beach-hopping along the southern coast. Start in Cala Figuera, a charming fishing village, then visit Cala Santanyi for its turquoise waters and relaxed atmosphere. Finish the day at Cala Llombards, a stunning cove with dramatic cliffs and crystal-clear waters.
Day 8: Caló des Moro, Colònia de Sant Jordi & Platja des Dolç
Start your morning at Caló des Moro, one of Mallorca’s most famous beaches, known for its breathtaking turquoise waters. Then, head to Colònia de Sant Jordi, a lovely coastal town, and finish your day at Platja des Dolç, a beautiful beach with shallow, calm waters perfect for a relaxing swim.
Day 9: Platja Es Trenc & Platja Estanys
Spend the day at Platja Es Trenc, one of the most famous beaches in Mallorca, often compared to the Caribbean for its white sand and crystal-clear waters. After a day of sunbathing and swimming, visit Platja Estanys, another beautiful beach in the area with a peaceful atmosphere.
Day 10: Cala Pi
End your trip at Cala Pi, a secluded cove with golden sand and turquoise waters surrounded by cliffs. Enjoy a peaceful morning here before heading back to Palma for your flight or extending your stay in Mallorca.
